I request by PM that we take this off line. I also asked you for your phone number so we can talk this thru. But you keep responding publically, Why?
Chap, I responded to you in PM. The answer I got is that between you and your son, six deer were maimed in just one year. One year, lets all let that soak in. It is not just some monster buck of a lifetime, itsthe systematic maiming of six deer in only one year. I was also told "in private" that you think there is a "PB Crisis" and that you are on a theme of "PB Bashing" Why don't you say that in public, six deer, PB Crisis, theme of "PB Bashing"? It gives context to your posts here.

I honestly don't think I can respond any better to this response than to share my coorespondence which outlines my passion about it.

Would you really like to know why I am so passionate about it? Because I know we are allows by traditional set of rules, ONLY, a three inch miss. That's it. No more. You seem to disregard this rule. Toread you wounded 6 deer only stirs more passion within me. It show to me that it is you who is in crisis, not America, and you are in denial as well.

Its downright easy to miss by 3" at 120 yards in a crosswind. Awfully easy. Its easy to hit brisket or guts. If you can't hit a 6" pie plate in the conditions that you are shooting in, please don't take the shot. That kind of hunting isn't what I was taught. I have to say, you are going to lose more deer if you don't resolve to only take shots you have 95% confidence you will miss by no more than 3"
I've grown very weary of this so I'm not commenting further on it.

Bottom line, you think it was me. I think it was the PBs. I know of the 3" rule. I get most of what I aim for most of the time with bow, muzzie, FLand rifle. I have had a very bad experience with PB and honestly didn't know why I wasn't getting the animal for for "America's Favorite Bullet". I know why now, they fragment. I am very weary of defending myself from you.I do not take shots that I am not sure of 100% of time, I take good shots that I can make or they walk. I have many many times let bucks go that I didn't have a good shot with, so you charge that I take poor judgement shots is NOT accurate. I was UNAWARE of the reputation of PB to fragment. I was unaware that you couldn't push them with 3 pellets, so am I unethical or immoral for being unaware?
I am weary of defending myself.Chap

heres those pics. The two upper left bullets are 385 grain great plains bullets, the one of the far left thats all spread open is the bullet i pulled from a doe i shot at 20yards through the shoulders and found it barely holding on to the other inside shoulder. The next one to the right is a log i shot at, went in a total of 5 inchs. The white flint is something i found at the lake along with a box full of other flint i picked up, after trimming it, that will be used only as my hunting flint, that sucker showers sparks like crazy. To the right of the flint, are 2 power belts, 295 grain aero tips fired from my flintlock with 70 grains fffg blackpowder at 25 yards, The whole bullet is the one that went totally through a log that was over a foot long and fresh cut pinion. The other powerbelt next to it, is one that didnt go through but went a total of 11inchs. And the little bastard with the star shaped hollow point is the 250 grain sabortooth that fell out of my barrel lol. What do u guys think of shooting it without the plastic skirt? i want to put it to good use so i never have to look at it again.
very good info/pictures..thanks..it comes down to a few things, powerbelts are made thin/soft so they can hug bore,as some showed pictures of the lands on a shot powerbelt..

i think if bullet was made harder, you would not get the good accuracty,as being soft, from what i read from you folks, is what helps powerbelt shoot good..

so, it comes down too this,no light powerbelt pushed hard should ever be used in brush or if shots are not behind shoulder..i would ONLY use a light powerbelt if i was shooting 150 yds ,in open field at CALM DEER..thats only my opinion..i have not tested the bullet,so ,its only a good GUESS from hunting bucks for 50 years with different bullets/conditions and reading info .tests you folks have done..

if conditions of way you hunt are not as above, use HEAVIEST POWERBELT at moderate loads..

my buck this year was shot with powerbelt 295 hollow point,at 20 yds, behind shoulder,.50 cal t/c hawkins flintlock,80 grs.2f.rmc v-peep,bullet went right thru and out the otherside..it did not hit rib ,went right between ..

he went right down, then i re-loaded..boy, it was nice and quick to reload a powerbelt vrs a patch/rd or messy maxi-ball..you know,i dont know why but i feel sorry for buck after i shot him..

i dont before i do it but after, i do..i guess i feel for deer, i always did..

dad raised me to be hunter, protect the future deer so kids coming along have the same experiences, i did..sadly, that is gone..now PGC wants a kid to be proud of shooting a doe/fawn..

well, its not working, kids i am talking too DONT want doe/fawn,they want buck..i cant blame them either..if dummys in harrisburg would stop this shooting of the small buck and button bucks, a kid today could grow up with something that he could talk about at camp or school or at work in future..

sorry i got of topic AGAIN..

Its always a bonus when they don't suffer any. I am affected the same way, always have been. My grandfather taught me it is natural to feel that way and that it is in the use of the animal we give it respect and appreciate it. I always remember him asI guta deer and from that point in time forward I'm smiling again.
