Congrats! I was at the same Cabelas today for a couple of hours! I had to get out of there before I dropped about 659.00 on a BP Shotgun! [8D]

I saw the round balls that they had for the .75 cal and i thought to myself there is my next deer rifle. Who cares if your slow to reload. If you hit the deer it would just blow itin half.

RE: I want a flintlock

I shot my new rifle today. I love it. My first 2 shots at 25 yards were only 1 inch apart. I was surprised. I was shooting 80 grains of goex ff and ffff in the pan. I really didnt tinker to much with differnt loads i just wanted to get use to the rifle. I shot about 20 rounds out of it (swabbing the barrel after every shot.) I only had a hang fire once and it was all my fault. It did fire slow a few times but then i moved the powder more towards the outside of the pan and everything went smooth. I only shot it at 25 yards today and i couldn't notice much differnce in the 2 kinds of patches i used but next weekend i am hopefully going to experement with differnt loads. and i might try some great plains bullets out of it. God i love that gun. Thanks to all of you for the advice.

All right fellers he's hook!! reel him in. They are a lot of fun to shot. Wait until you finally hunt with one. Nice shooting for the first time out. Most people take a long time to get used to the pan flash... kind of fun!! :D

It did take a bit to get used to the pan flash but before i shot the gun I put powder in the pan and just fired it like that to get used to it. I cant belive how much fun it was. I even enjoyed cleaning it when I was done. My inlines might take a back seat to my deerstalker come deer season next year. I just need to buy a peep sight for it.

I load 70 grains of 3F in mine. It's a very accurate load. I think the 3F burns a hair faster, and gives more consistent pressure? Tom.
