Cleaning question
#1
I haven't shot my muzzle loader in months. I forgot something..do I clean the gun with just water or soapy water. I'm talking about after I disassemble it. the last time I put the mussle straight down into water and then plunged it through the breach. After that I dried it real good and put a light coat of oil on it.
My question is what is the best water solution to use?
Thanks,
C7

Chuck, I get the water as hot as I can and use Regular Dish Soap and Rinse with Hot Water.I also use a Tooth Brush to clean the threads on theBreech Plug and breech end of the barrel.

Thanks Reb,
I didn't realize you were a muzzle loader man till this week. I could have been calling ya up on the phone??
I dropped my rifle at a student's parent's home at 7:30 this morning. ..across from the school I teach at.The range I shoot at is Saddle Creek..which is 1/2 mile from where I teach. It closes at 5:00 PM so I'll be hurrying up.
I got those orange sticky type bulls eyes.I'll stick them on a big piece of poster board and it shouldn't take many shots .Strut gave me a range finder and that will come in handy while in my stand. I'm over lokking a wet bogg at River Ranch closed to some palmettoes that have been freshly gnawed on.
Thanks reb,
C7

Yep! Been doing it since the 80's
These are the ones I use, cause it's easy to see the Yellow Holes!

I have a Bushnell 400 Pro
Man, I haven't been to River Ranch since the 80's!
Thanks Reb,

Long time Reb...I put in for Kicco this year. It's a 9 mile skinny section of River Ranch.Only 20 hunters allowed. I didn't realize how nice the place was. Many cedar homes. restaurants , golf course etc. pretty darn snazy.
Nice hunting too. By the name you would think it was real wet. It's not.Lot's of oak trees , praires, palmettoe fields and wet lands.
God bless brother,
