Default Scope Mounting Qs for Cayugad and Sabotloader!

Hi Guys,

I can see it'll be a long drawn out affair over on DWB if I keep asking these questions there so ...

Cayugad and Sabotloader- what UM scope bases did you guys choose and why?Did either of you try Woodgoat's modified Weaver S415 bases and if so how did you like them too?

as always, thanks a bunch!

I bought mine from Numrich Gun Parts Corporation 1-845-679-4867 http://www.e-gunparts.com

The front base = 929060 - Scope Mount Base, Top. Front, Weaver Grand Slam, All Steel, White - "G" Series Code: D1000A2(48258) $4.15

The back base = 929230 - Scope Mount Base, Top, Rear, Weaver Grand Slam, All Steel, White "G" Series
Code: D1000A2 (48269) $4.15

I then matched them with Warne QD medium height Rings.

This has been an excellent combination for me.

I'll add some more information later, I am in Kennewick now going home this afternoon.

The s52 bases that wood goat is using were the first bases that I ordered and shared with UC, who shared them with woodgoat - from there the rest is history. They work well with his modification (drilling an extra hole in the front base)

I also ended up ordering the same bases that cayugad described to you but I was not totally happy with them either - they were to limiting in the scopes that i could put on the gun - so I ended up ordering a set of bases from Doc - the front base is extended and offers more versitility - I did stay with a Grand Slam rear base.

I'll send you some pics when I get home.. --- I'm home - look here for the pics...

Looking at these pics - none of them are what I finally ended up with - I'll see if I can get a final pic tommorrow and post it.

Thank you sabotloader. Looking forward to the second (set of) pics ...

In looking at the first jpeg (titled WhiteBases.jpg) what's the order of the pictures? I'm looking to see what each flavor of base looks like on your UM, then to get your impressions based on experience. What I'm finding is there are so many sets of options out there that folks don't always detail out exactly what they used and then draw a reference(s) to supplied pics.

I don't know what's on/in pic 1 but assume it has a Weaver grand slam rear base (that you ended up sticking with, etc). Pics 2 and 3 look basically the same only the base on top moved from rear to front, correct? If so, what's the base number?Lastly, pic 4 looks to be the short weaver rear base, correct?

Thanks again for all your great info/experience - I recall reading over on DWB that you had at least three sets of bases on order to sort all this out for you![8D]

Just got back in - so here is the promised pic...

These are the bases I ordered from Doc, you can see the front base is extended out onto the barrel. I am using Millet rings. The scope is a Bushnell Trophy with a Mil-Dot. I think this base set up gives you more options in what scopes you might be able to install on that really short receiver.

Page #1 - first picture shows Warne base for an Austin & Halleck installed on the White

Second/Third pic shows that the Warne front base does not have the holes drilled to match the White - the base sitting on top is a Grand Slam S452 and the one that woodgoat was modifiying

Fourth pc - shows a Grand Slam S-455 designed for a White G. Not shown is the Grand Slam S-439 for the front. It is a small base just big enough to fit on the receiver with ony one ring slot.

Page #2 explains itself?

Hope some of this helps...

Let's turn this into a long, drawn-out affair.

It just wouldn't be right any other way, would it? After all, we are talking about a White and there's even pictures.

Hey UC, looks like the perfect opportunity to flesh out the White UM base details, eh?

Thanks again sabotloader- I don't like those extended bases from Doc at all.Yes your second pic was self explanatory.
