Ok, please ignore all the basic ballistic q's from my last post above - I founda link to an online ballistics calculator (on this forum, of course ) and have ran enough 1st cutcalculations last night tobegin to understand whatchanges in overall ML picture will impact ft lbs vs. bullet drop vs muzzle velocity. Is 1500fps to say 1700fps too fast a muzzle velocity for pure lead projectiles? What about using "harder" lead - any gains to be had there?

Also, I haven't seemany BC's quoted for the sabots or conicals you guys typically shoot - how do you know this key piece of the equation?

If the sabot is made by Hornady, you can look up the BC and SD on their web site. If it is something else other then a Hornady, there are ballistic calculators that will come close to the BC.http://www.handloads.com/calc/index.html

There is also a mathmatical forumula that I do not know or want to know, that will figure that out for you. Another easy way is to ask. Someone usually has that information and is more then willing to share. I then write a lot of that down in a notebook....

A real world figure for BC for most of the conicals we shoot would be in the neighborhood of .25

Try the program with .25 then .30 and .20 to see how much difference it actually makes out to 150.
