I have a CVA Bobcat .50 with a 1:48" twist. I shot my first animal with it last year (jack rabbit), using 50 grs of Pydrodex or Goex 2f (can't remember which) and a .490 RB. Two weeks later I shot my first big game with it (cow elk) using the same powder but with an 80 grcharge and a 370 grain T/C Maxi Ball. It seems that my rifle likes that 80 grains of powder the best, and I liked the performance of the T/C on my elk. I should draw a muzzle loader deer tag this year, and will most likely shoot the 80 grs of powder and either the RB or the 245 gr Buffalo Ball e-t, depending on which shoots best. I just think the T/C would be a tad bit big for deer.

Marcial

charlie brown.. IMO there is no such thing as;
I just think the T/C would be a tad bit big for deer.
If that maxiball is an accurate load, by all means use it deer hunting. What you will find is it will hit, break bone if necessary, and pass through leaving an excellent blood trail. You should see some of the conicals I have shot deer with.

In my Mountain Stalker which is the same thing as your Bobcat... I shoot 80 grains of Triple Se7en a wonder wad and a patched roundball. It is a real deer stopper. Good luck with your rifle.

In my CVA Greywolf for deer and hogs I use 70gr fff Triple 7 with a 385gr Great Plains HBHP. In my Pedersoli 12ga Dbl so far I've been using90gr APP 2f and 90gr volume #6 shot. I have yet to get a shot at a turkey with it but it really patterns well with this load. I'll let you know whatI do with PRBs in the 12ga as soon as I'm done chasing gobblers.

i have been using maxi-ball 370 for at least 30 years on whitetail deer.it has never left me down.i use same as you. 80 grs of geox2f,bore button,now, i am shooting the powerbelt 295/348 ,like both.it is a little bit more accurate than the maxi-ball.i like the hollow point bullet so i can load light and enjoy shooting not worrying about recoil .powerbelt is best bullet i have seen in 30 years hunting whitetail buck.

.50 Tradition Pursuit pro
100 grns ffg
.45 cal 300 grn xtp H.P. with Hornady H. velocity Sabots
Kleanbore primers work great but I thought I would try thesmall primers so I Just ordered Variflame Pr.adapters.
This combo worksGREAT in my rifle. This year will be my first year hunting for Mule deer and Elk with a M.L.
