Thanks also to the rest of the people with info on this post. I would still like to hear from anyone with a pusuit pro or optima pro. Does not seem to be many of these owners out there.

Newmuzzleman,

I own a SS Sidekick. I paid 230 bucks for it. A pursuit pro retails for about the same price and it is not Stainless. If you haven't already spent your money, I think you will be alot more happy with the Sidekick in the long run than the Pursuit. Mine shoots well, I like it alot.

Happy Hunting, Phil

Hey Phil. I have not spent any money yet. But when I do, I am sure to spent quite a bit. I am still undecided and everytime I ask a few questions I end up changing my mind. Spain or American? I really like the encore but I don't usually go for the high end stuff. Ex. I shoot a mossberg 500 shotgun and not a benelli. But all the doubt on safety I am leaning toward TC.

Not even taking the safety issue into consideration, you could never go wrong with a Thompson Center product. Besides getting a quality rifle you get the customer service behind the rifle and the fact that they are going to be in business for a long time to come...

You might want to hold off if your serious and look at the new models coming out. Some of them by Thompson Center are really sharp.

I probably should not jump in here again but I guess I am - so here goes. Do not make more of the safety issue than there is to it. there are a lot of these guns out there serving people very well. I have a CVA Firebolt and I used it a lot as a starter gun. I shot it with T7 for several years. It was a good gun but I believed I could achieve better accuracy with the Remingtons, A&H's and now the Omega that I own. It is still in the gun cabinet. If you are a safe person the gun is a safe gun. If you are careless then there is an opportunity for a problem.

Personally if I were to choose between the Pursuit and the Nef I would take the Pursuit. I do not like the looks of the NEF or the Encore, hence the Omega. I also do not like the thought of a collaspable ram rod, which the NEF uses. At the range you can use a range rod for loading but in the field you will need the a ram rod sometimes a rugged ram rod, a rod you can rely on, the collaspable in my mind does not fit the bill.

Might go over to Greybeard and ask your same question there are Pursuit uses over there..

Good luck in your decision, what ever you get I hope you really enjoy it.

I would NOT however get the Pursuit LT.

What new models are they coming out with? Any more break-action other than the new Pro Hunter? That is the only one I heard that is new coming out. I will probably hold out as long as I can but I would like to get shooting as soon as the better weather comes. I want to be very ready for the deer hunt in the fall here.

Yes I was refering to the Pro Hunter. Actually if you have no need to interchange barrels, the Omega is the best choice. If you do not absolutly need a stainless steel barrel, there are some real good prices out there for Omega's right now. I think Sabotloader got his for $269.00 or $270.. something with shipping.

I don't think there is too much new about the pro hunter other than the stock and a fluted barrel. So if I do decide to buy a TC it will probably be an encore. Besides who knows how much more the pro will be? There are alot of Omegas out there, must be a reason for that. Also, I don't really have the need to change barrels either. Thanks for the suggestion too.

No matter the choice you make READ THE OWNERS MANUAL, and UNDERSTAND IT.
When shooting your choice, what ever it is KEEP YOUR MIND ON WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
If your thinking about work or some other subject maybe you shouldn't be shooting a ML as it does require your full attention.
Dry balling isn't so bad, but a double charge is.
