I orded me 2 packs of the 265 swift bullets, total of 20 bullets. I was going to use MMP sabots with them so I can get a good baseline.

Do you shoot your ML with or without the ram rod in? I have been shooting mine without and plan on shooting without in the field. Damn thing keep scooting out everytime I look at the gun on the range and last year it feel out twice when i was hunting with the Encore.

No - be sure to take the ramrod out before you shoot it - unless you're making the transistion from archery to muzzleloading, then you can leave it in:D. Just kidding.
If you're talking about at the range, I leave mine out, since I put a T-handle on the end to make loading easier. But in the field, I always have it in. If yours is loose enough to slide out on its own, I'd make some modification to the thimble to make it fit a little tighter.

Hey Jaybe,

Have you ever checked for a diff POI with the ram rod in or out? I have heard some guns it does not matter and others it makes a big diff. Makes sense that it would. Sounds like you shoot at the same distances I do at deer. All under 100 yards so it would not change to much.

No, but that's a good point. I'll try to remember that before I go a'hunting this year. I know that with my bow, it will simply NOT shoot arrows right with the quiver on. I suppose a ramrod might make a difference in a gun, too - though I doubt that it would be that much. I'll try it anyway - thanks.

I noticed my old Knight Disc rifle (which I sold a couple of years ago) would shoot a little higher with the rod in the stock than without. None of my T/C guns show any difference in point of impact, though. Another thing I do when hunting is put a couple of rubber bands made of a 1/4" wide strips of bicycle inner tube around the barrel and ramrod. Keeps it from rattling and holds it in better than the internal spring.

I always shoot with the ram rod in place... I do not use the gun rr when I am target practicing - I do use a range rod so it just remains in the gun... to provide a little more friction to the rod I put a wrap of electric tape around the rod. The wrap is placed where it will fit inside the upper timble and applys some friction at that point.... may take more than one wrap...
