CVA Hawkens
I just bought a CVA Hawkens 50cal from a on line auction. The seller discribed the stock as being a ULTRA GRAIN. Can anyone give information on what that exactly is. Is this still being produced ? How about a value , its said to be new unfired.

RE: CVA Hawkens
Ultra Grain sounds like one of those made up descriptions to try and define something they feel is very special about the stock and which they can not explain in any other manner to a possible buyer. There is nothing in my limited terminology which makes me think of something different when I hear the phrase Ultra Grain. You would think it has something to do with the manner in which the grain of the woods is formed.
We see this type of approachmore and more in commercials on TV where they make up a phrase or word which really does not or could not exhist. They feel if they give it that special whiz bang sound, it will draw more people towards the thing. Well it must work, as they use the process all the time.
The main thing is you're happy with your riflepurchase. Be sure and post some pictures of your Ultra Grain rifle when you get it...
Good luck with the rifle.
