Default About you and your rifle

What is your favorite load with what rifle? Also what do you hunt? If you have a pic of your rifle post it. This is just too see what everyone hunts, what rifle they shoot, and what load they like.

Happy Hunting!

Wow that is like trying to ask me which kid I like best and what I like best about him/her.

I don't think I have yet found my pinnical of muzzleloaders even though I own some of the best rifles out there. My Scout with a modest 90g FFF Goex load with a 265g Hornaday interlock FP is my go to round for fair weather hunting and shooting my Encore loves to take on cartridge guns at the range. (Well the Scout does the same job at the range)

Other rifles fill my need for the roundball experience including an old Renegade I just bought and have yet to shoot. Then there is my first muzzleloader which is now shooting like a brand new gun even though it looks like it was taken from the debrie of Katrina.

What can I say... "It's all good"

I can't wait for the rifle that says to me "Honey your home"

i have tc hawkins .50 cal flintlock. i hunt only whitetail deer, BUCKS ONLY no doe as not many left here in pa.my favorite load is 80 grs of 2f with a MAXI-BALL 370 GR. i used to shoot roundballs when maxi-balls were illegal here in pa.i also like POWERBELTS in 295 gr. with 80 or 90 gr of 2f.remember, the secret to shooting a flintlock is being able to hold on the target without fear of the recoil/noise. LOWER charges are way to go with heavy bullets.my hawkins is like shooting a .22 cal to me UNLESS i go to 90 or 100 grs which i dont ever use. i shot a lot of bucks with that load and maxi-ball 370 in in last 25 or so years i could use them.take care.

I only have one ML at the moment, I hunt deer and paper with it. My normal load is 2 pellets 777 and a Shockwave in 250 Gr. It holds 1.5 inch groups of 3 at 100 yards. Will be working up several different Powder/Sabot combos this year will post what I find shoots best for me later.

I would like to get a nice Pennsylvania or Kentucky Long Rifle in a 54 Cal to shoot Round balls just for fun. There are several clubs in my area, I am thinking of joining one to get further experience and assistance.

This is th BP gun I've hunted the most with; a CVA Kentucky kit gun, .45. Favorite load is 66 gns Pyro P stoppered down with a home-cast 250 gn TC maxi-ball. Velocity is 1585 fps (clocked about 12 feet from the muzzle).

This gun/load has accounted for 4 whitetails, 3 mule deer, two turkeys, two hogs, one javelina.

Just got an Optima .45 but am still working on a load for it
