mossberg 500 black powder?

Default mossberg 500 black powder?

i was at dick's sporting goods and saw a chage out barrel to covert my mossberg 500 12 ga to a .50 cal muzzle loader. it looked pretty sweet and was only $100. anybody out there have any experience with this rig? imput would be really appreciated!

They have been offered for many years and have not caught on so either they don't work to well or are a deep dark secret that everyone knows about.[:-]

As an owner of a 500 and avid m/l shooter the thought has never crossed my mind to buy one of these conversions even though I have seen them even cheaper than what you saw at Dicks.

I am not against all conversion type rifles I own an Encore and have three barrels for it. The 500 just doesn't have apeal to me it just performs the scatter gun needs I have. I will say I have no need to buy another shotgun because the 500 performs well in that role.

So to sum up all that verbage I bet they work ok but not great. You could get meat with them but would you hang it on the wall?

thanks for the info. im still very interested in the converstion, i actually love my mossberg and if it will do the trick out to 100 yards it the ticket for me. anybody have one?
