Default why we miss deer

i was out buck hunting here in pa. today. i saw 2 doe again and it seems i never have tree to lean on when i stalk a deer lately. well, i can shoot a doe but do to lack of deer here in pa. i stopped shooting a doe years ago. anyhow, i thought, well, i will again practice holding my new rmc v-peep sight behind shoulders of doe. guess what, i was waving all over place on those doe. i even had my sling wrapped around my left arm to steady it. the doe walk slowly away at 25 yards . when i got home i took the muzzleloader into house and turned on 1 of my buck hunting tapes.took the muzz and started holding on the bucks during the movie. i could not believe how much better i got after i practiced for about 15 minutes ,pulling up and holding and squezzing trigger on that movie. reason i brought this up, i think we miss a lot of bucks because we dont practice as much on deer until we see one.i know i will be practicing more with that deer tape at home to strengthen my arms etc. as we get older ,we lose a lot of our ability to hold a gun as we did when we were 18 UNLESS we practice more. this bit of info may get you a deer, take care.

Default RE: why we miss deer

I have to admit. I do a considerable amount of off hand shooting and still find it still a hard thing to do. For those of you that think they can shoot off hand, take a 3x5 inch index card, tape that to a box, draw an X from corner to corner. Then try hitting the center of that card at different distances. Shoot at least three times. On a different forum they suggested people try this and needless to say, I was shocked the first time I gave it a go. I always thought I was a pretty good free hand shot.

It is a good way to practice especially if you can set the box up at different distances and angles. After you shoot free hand a while, then go to some shooting sticks and you will not believe how accurate you can shoot with shooting sticks.
