Default Question: When to Buy a New Muzzleloader?

I want to buy a new muzzleloader and I didn't get interested until late December. Now everyone has low or no inventory and there are not any sales that I can find anywhere. Does anyone have a sale at the end of the hunting season or will I have to wait until next fall to find a good price? Are there any online outlets for a good buy on a gun at a fair price? Everyone talks about great prices on TC Omegas and NEF Sidekicks, but I haven't seen anything out there. Thanks!

Check all your local walmart stores for clearance deals on the omega and others. There have been reports of getting them in recent weeks for as little as 164.00. I suspect that most of those deals are gone now though. It's definetly worth the effort. Good Luck.

this is the best price I could find on the NEF Huntsman which is the same thing as a Sidekick. Nothing fancy mind you, just a solid well built rifle. I have bought rifles from this company and they are real good to do business with. You might want to e-mail them if you want more information.

Right after the holidays can be both good and bad depending on which model(s) were hot during the holidays.

Good: for the models that did not move quite as well.
Bad: for the models that did sell like hot cakes.

Might wish to wait until February to April when retailers and shops will be placing orders for the late summer delivery to ready for the fall hunting season and will be wanting to move inventory prior to fall deliveries.

However:
I just got a flierregarding two nice rifles available from Cabela's. They are the Pedersoli "Brutus" Ovation and Model 94. The list price on these is over $450.00

$149.00 from Cabela's. 1-800-237-4444

Info about the Brutus rifles from Davide-Pedersoli:

Good luck!

tjcnole,
The best time to buy a new muzzleloader is when the wife's out of town.

ha, thats funny but true. i am lucky, i have wife that does not care what i do. i married her because of that. i told her , i hunt and fish and trap.i go when i want to,i drink beer and wild turkey,i smoked but quit years ago. i see men today that are like little babys around their wives. wife makes fool out of them in front of me. a friend wanted to go hunting with me, so we went.we got home to his house 6 hours later. his wife was at front steps with her hands on her hips and said, YOUR SON HAS BEEN WAITNG FOR YOU. boy, she was a mean a. to this day she will not let her husband talk to me. what is happening to men now.i would never take the abuse i see men taking today married from their wives, never. i guess i am lucky but my wife knew when she married me that i was not a stay at home dad,ha. take care

sproulman,
Good story I know exactly what you're talking about. I place a lot of orders for my friends that don't want their wives toknow what they are buying. My wife teases me about the money I spend on ML's etc. but she don't care. She even bought me a newT.H. Omega for my last B day. What a woman......I'm a very lucky guy too!
