Buying a first BP rifle?
If your buying your first BP rifle give some thought to what your going to use it for first off. If that use might be whitetail deer hunting give thought on a 50 cal rifle.
I have a couple of 50's and a 54 cal which I tend to favor. I am nearly out of sabots for the 54 cal and have hunted in stores high and low for more of the same type with out luck. Yes there are some power belts but not the amount for a 50 or a 45 for that matter. There are harvesters but none stocked for a 54. I have also seen row after row of shock waves for 50's and a few for 45's but not one for a 54.
What I am trying to say is ya might chose a 50 cal and have many many choicesand combs to shoot year after year. Some of them are found at places like Wally world day after day.
If ya want to be different and maybe hunt some tougher game and work up different loads often then a 54 might just be your cup of tea.
