Default 777 pellets vs 777 loose strength

Are 777 pellets and 777 loose powder charges equal in strength? I was shooting 777 pelllets in two of my muzzle loaders today, because it is faster to reload and I didn't have a lot of time. I shot them out of my new Omega. Sweet shooting gun. I was wondering how much of a difference there will be between the powder and the pellets POI wise.

Thanks Andrew

15% approximately the loose is stronger then the pellets. The T-7 pellets are actually reduced in weight so their power equals approximately that of the Pyrodex Pellets. So you get less T-7 and pay more money. WOW what a scam that is. When you shoot the loose you have to figure in the 15% just like you would if you were shooting Pyrodex.

T7 loose is probably the strongest propellant on the planet!
It kills the pellets. Just remember that if your gun is rated for 150 grains max, their talking about pellets. 150 grains of loose will knock teeth out!
Don't ever need more than 100 grains of loose. And mesure by volume not weight. As for POI, that all depends on your gun. My CVA Hunterbolt loves 80gr. loose. or 100 gr. pellets. The 150 gr. load throws my accuracy out the window. Hodgdons website says 70 grains loose is just as fast as 100 grains of pellets in a .50 cal. using 348gr. powerbelt.

Yes by all means, measure it out in your brass tube. That is by volume. When you want to measure by weight, you throw five charges from your brass tube and weigh them on a scale. Then take the average of the five charges. Now when you make up your charges, you weigh them to that average.

Just use your tube and do not exceed the recommend amount.

Man that sucks. I will buy the Pyrodex pellets, powder or loose 777 from now on. Learn something new everyday. Well if Wally Worrld drops them to really low clearance prices, I might buy some more 777 pellets.

my ripping-off Walmart here, in Tallahassee,FL has dropped the loose T7 price from $35/lb to $9/lb. I was totally ripped off 2 weeks ago. Damn Walmart.
