Default RE: Rolling Block question

My hunting partner shoots one of these in .50 caliber. It is fairly hefty and has what appears to be a weather proof ignition system. Nice wood and metal finish - made by Pedersoli, I understand. His gun has an interesting barrel where tight fitting sabots start out fairly easy and seat firmer as the bullet goes down the bore. I gave him all my Barnes Expander MZ's and Hornady SST's, since they seat very firm in my T/C rifles. The gun seems to shoot just about everything we have put through it well. No problem with three 50 grain Pyrodexpellets and sabots. Also shoots well with big lead conicals - he got a nice 6 X 6 bull elk back in September with a 410 gr. Hornady Great Plains bullet, ahead of an MMP ballistic bridge sub base; and using 110 grains of 2F Triple 7.

This is a handsome gun that works. My only complaint is that it weighs about half again as much as my Black Diamond.

Despite being a perfectly suitable action for use with fixed cartridge brass-cased ammunition, the idea of screwing a breechplug into the rear of the barrel and using a rolling block as a muzzleloader seems a bit bizarre.

I can understand what a pain they'd be to clean, since the entire action probably cruds up, inside and out.

Hey Guys. Thanks for all the input. I have heard about the cleaning but I, Myself, have a lot of patience when it comes to that. Being a marine mechanic has it's advantages there.(patience in smaall areas) I am going to go with it as i do like a heavy gun and also wood. Cabella's also has a model 94 (briutus) made by the same co which I also like. Also 199.00 from 449/00. Any ideas on them???????
\ Thank again for the opinions as they have helped. I have heard they do shoot excellent though.
