Default Anyone else heard this?

I was talking to a sporting goods sales associate at one of the local Walmarts and he told me that they were not going to carry ML'ers in stock any more. You could still get them through their special order system but not instantly at the store. Has anyone else heard this? He said he thought it was not just that store but all of Walmart. I hope he was wrong.

I think it really varies from location to location. Some walmarts have really good sporting sections, others suck. When they turned our walmart into a superwalmart or whatever it is it went down hill pretty quick. Great place for women to shop, but the sporting and automotive section are useless now.

Miejer (sp?) is the same way. The one in my town pretty much blows, but there are two in Jackson and one of them has a pretty good selection of sporting goods and hunting gear.

The Walmart here (Hagerstown MD) is still just full of guns - I suspect a lot depends on how much demand a particular store has......

Dang there is about 6 Wally worlds withing spitting distance, 1 has a real good gun selection (including ML's and acc) the others are ok for modern guns, but don't carry squat for ML or archery any more, The ones in Ga by the lease have a real good hunting selection, I think it's all money and whatthey can sell.

What this guy was telling me was that all the ML'ers, when scanned, are showing discontinued, as in no longer being stocked. He seemed to think it was not just a local store issue but system wide. He could be wrong, I hope so if for no other reason than the end of season sales. I do wish they would get their prices in line with the local gun shops etc. I can buy 777 powder for 4 to 8 dollars cheaper at several places compared to Walmart. Even their gun prices are higher than some places. But I guess that keeps the other guys in business though.

Would this rumour have anything to do with Walmart "temporarily" stopping the sale of guns last year in California after paying more than $14 million to settle charges alleging that it committed thousands of violations of California state gun safety laws between 2000 and 2003?

That's the first I've heard of that so I don't know if it's related or not.

Not surprising at all. Wally World has been taking a bit of slide for a while now. I personally don't like what they have done to make a manufacturer cheapen a good product so they cansell it through the Wally World system. I had that experience a while back when I bought a T/C Blk Diamond at a very low price only to discover the low price was because they cheapened the rifle, (sights, stock, etc).

Wally World'sin my area area hit and miss also. Never have the same thingsinall stores. They are a ruthless retailer that probably hurt more good people than they have ever helped! Look at what they give their own employees for benefits and you will see what I mean.

I limit what I buy at WalMart.
