Default think i bought wrong bullets

recently i ordered some Keith nose hollow points from pr bullets. While i was ordering i hit the 300 grainers instead 0f the 330 grainers that their website said to choose.I am shooting a Rem 700and will be using triple seven ffg.I talked to Cecil andtold him about my mistake and he said to return them i already opened them.i told him i was planning on using 100 grains, and he said i should probably go with 80 grains instead. My question is this,do you think this would be an acceptable load accuracy wise.I know all guns are different but am running out of time before the season.I have been reading alot of posts from guys like big country, cayugad and triple se7en and hope you guys can help me out with all you knowledge. thanks in advance

You will only know the accuracy by shooting them.

I would start with80-85 grains 777FFGand see where they print. If they shoot well then you can bump the charge up a bit if you wish and re-verifyor simply stay where you are at if your load development time is limited before the hunt.

As always one to hunt with the heaviest charge with a given projectileto the point of accuracy loss, I would rather leave a little down range energy on the table and at least know that I can rely on accuracy.

Good luck.

I have never used the PR Keith nose bullets so can't give you any details on it persay, but I do shoot the same ML. When ever I try a new bullet I start 80-85 gr then work up by 5's until accuracy fades or I reach max. I would think Cecil is suggestion is keeping with this and being he is well versed in the PR bullets I would start their at least. The 80T7/300gr is plenty to harvest deer out to 150 yards, if it proves to be the best load combo in terms of accuracy. I started with 100 gr of Pyrodex and 300 gr XTP's in my 700 ML, it worked fine to harvest a couple of whitetails. I then played around with the XTP 240's and took many more (whitetails, mule deer & black bear). Right now I am shooting 250gr SST behind 105gr of FFG T7, the accuracy is superb and trajectory is also where it needs to be for my hunting this fall. Last fall it was used in 4 deer harvests ranging from 30 to 191 yards.

Like you said the only way to know is shoot them. Best of luck.

I've never shot the keith nose from Percision Rifle. I am sure they are an excellent round. I have shot their Silver Lightening in 300 grain and those things are excellent.

I do shoot a Keith Nose made by Hunterman Boolets and they shoot very well. I really do not think you will have a problem with them. As Tahq said, start them out light, around 80 grains and then see how hard you can push them before they group breaks. I think you will be surprised. Be sure and swab between shots... You have a good shooting rifle there. I am sure it will handle them.

Those Keith Nose by the way really do a number on game animals. Very little walks aways from a well placed Keith Nose Bullet as you will soon find out...

Good luck
