Omega flash hole size
OK. I'm a rookie at Black Powder and have a new T/C Omega 50 in stainless. Shot/sighted it in firing about 15 rounds through it (3 - 50 Pellets of Triple 7, 250 Grain Hornady XTP's and Shockwaves in May of this year. I swabbed after every 3 shots but upon arriving home never did a complete cleaning (breech plug...etc. yea I know my bad). An unfortunate accident and shoulder surgery in late July kept me from shooting or even thinking about the gun again....untill today. I disassembled the breech plug only to find the flash hole COMPLETELY caked in gunk. Repeated cleaning/brushing/picking/needling has revealed only a tiny hole where the 209 primer fires into the powder charge. How large is the actual flash hole on a ML?? I can only fit a sewing needle through the hole now, is that about the size of a "normal" hole?Should I just get a new Breech Plug? Any Ideas??

There is nothing wrong with your gun , call the manufacturer . The hole is very small , my guess is .020 of an inch . A new breach plug is like $15 from cabelas , but I doubt you need one .

Most of my inlines have the large open style breech plug but my CVA Staghorn has one identical to what you describe. No fear, it just channels the flame to one spot. The rifle fires fine. I think there are a new style of breech plug you can get through Thompson Center. Whether you really need one, I doubt...
