Black breech plug?
Took the CVA Kodiak to the range yesterday for the first time. First time with an inline too. I noticed the the back of the brecch plug was black. Is this normal? Should I use a different cap? Need some help. Thanks

That sounds like just fowling from the 209 primers. That is normal. When I shoot my Black Diamond XR the breech plug is black, the bottom of the scope is black, the striker is black, it's a mess. But, that is normal. Just be sure to use a good solvent and scrub that off. I like to make all parts of the rifle shine like the day it came out of the box.

RE: Black breech plug?
Thanks Cayugad. That is what I wanted to hear. I have no problem cleaning things as long as they are suppose to get that nasty. Looks like it is time to get a cheap tooth brush.

They even sell a small brush that will clean the inside of the breech plug. I use a small piece of scotch brite scrub pad and some solvent. It takes it right off. I then Q-tip the hard to reach areas and wipe it all off. The tooth brush does work good for cleaning the old lube out of the threads too...
