What's the story with the new "clean" 209s from Remington?
I've now seen a couple posts mentioning these new 209 primers from Remington, but no one I've talked to at either of my local sports stores has heard about them. Where can a person info about these. I checked Remingtons website and didn't see anything there about them, and I'd like to try to get my local stores to carry them so I can give them a try.

Is this what you're looking for? I think Cabelas may have them.

They are out, and cabelas does carry them. Be aware that there is a $20 hazardous materials handling fee if you have them shipped to you. I have yet to use them, but my friend just ordered some.

driftrider,
I read an article in either, Outdoor Life or American Hunter, and for the life of me I can't find that article, it was about the new primer from Remington. They called it a 209-4, I believe.
The article said the other 209 primers pushed the load forward when fired, creating a burn ring in the chamber, which causes a problem when reloading a ML. Said it required more force to seat the next load and possibly caused some folks to not seat the load properly. The article went on to say that the Rem. primer wasn't as hot, but worked fine and did not push the load forward creating the burn ring, which makes for easier loading.
I think I explained it the way they wrote it. Sorry I don't have the article handy.

I have shot about 50 of these in the last two days. Some improvement in the crud ring using 777 in an Encore .50 but it did not eliminate it. I can't say that I have noticed an accuracy improvement, but then this rifle is giving me fits trying to find a good load/bullet combo.
I found them a Walmart. Kinda expensive at 5.59 per 100.
