Well, its hard to follow your post. You might get more replies withpuncuation andmaybea comma or period like all theadults use. But I will give it a try. Sure, you could but a rifled barrel doesnot have aforcing cone, and not anything like a shotgun barrel that is made to control shot pattern. And with the rifling doing further dispersion of your load, your patterns would probably blow. You better get that turkey like 15 yards or better.

i screwed up my barr by lapping it ive got a new one and i was woundering if i could use the old one to load pellets to use for turkey hunting how do you think this would work

You might have a rabbit and squirrel gun, and again.. you better get close because I do not think you will be happy with the pattern you will get. Although you could try it. Just be careful about how many grains of pellets you put down the barrel on top of the powder charge. Rememeber, if you load for instance 100 grains of pellets, you do have to take into account the amount of lead pellets you put in that barrel. All of this determines barrel pressures. I personally would not use the barrel for that reason alone, because it is not what the rifle was designed for.
As bigcountry inquired, how did you damage the barrel? What lapp method did you use? Also have you tried shooting conical projectiles from the rifle like the maxi ball? Sometimes the old worn rifles start shooting a different projectile better then what they used to.. you just have to experiment.

I once tried to shoot regular lead shot in a fully rifled shotgun barrel (made for sabot slugs). It was ugly. Great big donut shaped pattern with alarge void in the middle.
With the same reamers used for back boring a shotgun, a gunsmith could probably ream this barrel out to 28 guage - or even possibly 20 guage - and install the choke tubes. The cost might be approaching that of a regular shotgun barrel, though.
I am also interested in how much lapping was required to "screw up" a barrel. Did you use valve grinding compound?

And THERE YOU HAVE IT folks!
THIS post is a prime example of why the whole "DIY borelapping" stunt is just that. Todays machining technology makes such undertakings absolutely un-necessary and a complete waste of time and money. Sure there are gains to be made but ONLY when done properly and by someone who knows what the hell they are doing. Furthermore we are talking about hunting rifles, not competition matchgrade equipment. It simply isn't needed. If a bore is so poorly built that it needs lapping and deburring than why bother buying something so poorly made?
Sorry for the money you wasted but I suspect you have learned a mistake that will be worth MUCH more than the $300 barrel you now have to replace,
RA
ps
You ruined enough "stuff" with your curiosity, don't go ruining and laming up game by trying to shoot them with a screwed up barrel. Use the barrel for what it is good for now, behind the seat of your truck for a billyclub. NOT for attempting to take an animals life with it!
