Well I hope "BS" ain't giving us any b-s over this 73. I heard of 72s... but not 73s.
Who sells a single barrel 72 or 73 caliber? I'd sure like to go check one out & handle it too.
C'mon back hereBS..... get us a store name, phone number, email address, website.... sumthin'...

Some call it a .72 cal, but the bore is really .729, so it is really a 73.
With a 27" barrel and .725 Round balls that weigh 550 grains
140FF-1223fps
190FF-1403
225FF-1475
I hope to use the 190 load on Elk.....soon!
It works very well on white tail![8D]

I personally do not doubt him. I have been looking over some of the custom rifle makers and they have some strange calibers. Plus they include the roundball mold (for a little extra I am sure) with the rifle when you order one. Such calibers as .60, and .79 caliber even. I think one of them was .79 caliberbecause I was thinking how cool it would be to have a rifle throwing that kind of lead ball around. I had to leave that site real fast before I ended up with another rifle..
I bet that .73 caliber would be quite the cannon. If my .62 caliber throws a 324 grain roundball, think of what kind of rock that thing pitches...
That should take a critter into a world of hurt.

I bought the barrel from Jerry Cunningham at Orion Barrels out of Kalispell MT. He made me a nice 27" tapered barrel from 1 1/8 to 1" at the muzzle. I asked for him to make me a light weight for hunting elk, and he did.

They also carry some big ones, not sure what diameters they make them in.
I asked Jerry about the loads, and he told me "what ever I could stand.........most of the boys started at 175FF and went up to 225FF."
190 ROARS and 225 is almost too much![X(]

I also have a seven ga. smooth bore that will shoot a 1000 grain RB at 1100fps. That is an A$$ kicker![:@]
click on my BS and go to my homepage and under muzzleloading you can see some of my STUFF!
I fixed the link to my homepage.

that is a nice site BS thank you. And some beautiful rifles. I never shot one of those under hammer guns but have looked at Blue Grouse's (I think it was) site and checked them out. I considered one of them in a larger caliber. Don't the cap ever fall off the thing?
