Sure does sound like a bear to me as well. Like others have suggested, photos would settle the whole matter.

I'm leaning more toward coyote. Sounds big, but repeatedly back at or near the same spot is definitely canine trait.

Alaska jim, does a bear s#*t in the woods? Not always, you should of seen the one on my lawn this summer I thought it was a gopher mound. And then I hit it with my lawn mower, what a mess, (splat) had to clean it off my camper.
