Pat Ely, you should be hitting it at one of the best times. Last year this was the best week. The week after went kinda downhill when the weahther warmed up. The elk bedded that week during the day and were very active at night. Best of luck to you and hang on. Elk hunting IMO is the best.

third week is usually the best, but it varies from area to area,elevation to elavation, latitude to latitude, and the weather. The heat cycle is thought to be related to the length of day. That would explain why it varies slightly. The secondary heat cycle also runs about one month after the first, depending on the species.
