No, Kenai Peninsula technically, but not far from Anchorage. On our trip we also saw a Brown Bear at about 600 yards. . Not till fall for that bad boy. He was probably between 8 and 8 1/2 foot. Was fun to watch, walking around like he owned the place. Needless to say we moved to glass black bears somewhere else. Blackies and Brown's don't get along so we knew there weren't going to be any black bears around him. I am glad we moved because within about 4 hours we spotted the guy in the above pic and tracked him for about an hour.
