I hunted hogs last january in texas. I shot three. They were 250#, 265#, and the last tipped at 305#. I used my 12 Ga. slug gun on them all. All were one shot kills, and all but one dropped in it's tracks. The other managed to run 15 yards before expiring. I was using the 1 oz barnes expander from federal. This is what i'll use next January.

What did you decide on? If your logon denotes your favorite (.308) you should be fine. I took a hog with a 30-06, a friend with a 270. Another friend uses a 7mm-08. The owner of the ranch we hunted at will snipe them with a 223 (behind the ear, as others have mentioned).
