Cut 'em up. Put 'em on the pack frame and walk.
Unless you can get RuRu12 & Tim Buma to go with ya!

Weasel - Have pack and rifle, and will travel. If it means I get to hunt some too, then I'm willing to pack meat.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Hopefully one of these days I'll finally draw a Utah mule deer tag, and I'll get to test my packing skills in your neighborhood.

Very sharp knife, tends to dull with all the cutting on a bull moose/elk. Good pair of hiking boots. External frame back pack. Bull headed determination. And a cold drink waiting for you at the end of the job.

AZHUNTER, I just gotta laugh at your post. Great difference between quail, dove and cottontails. Hope they were not too much trouble.

Off to the Woods for another Hunt!

Depends on where I am hunting, If I've got horses available I'll pack them out on a saddle panyard or a sawbuck. Many times I'll have to use the old Pack frame I've got a Kifaru that works well. In Ak I've shot Moose or Caribou a ways from camp and packed the meat on my back to a closer good spot to land and then flew over and picked it up with the airplane. It's kinda one of those do what you have to type situations. The first time you ever put an Elk or a Moose down by your self the job of retrieving it can seem astronomical just remember to go at it one step at a time. After it's quatered deboned ETC it'll seem alot more manageable.

Horses are the best way, however no horses or mules, then get a good pack frame or back back. I usually bone out the meat and start packing. It may mean several trips, but that is what hunting is all about.

Packing Moose out of the bush in Ontario is always a chore but worth every minute. The last one we shot we had to track for about an Hour and found him beside a small pond. 1100 lbs dressed. We quartered him and were able to get a couple of aluminum boats up to him, portaging 3 beaver dams along the way. Getting in was ok but we had to unload the moose at every dam coming out. He was shot at noon om Monday and we had him back to camp on Tuesday at 2 pm. Once on the Magnetawan River it was smooth sailing! Like they say, the fun stops once you pull the trigger!! Always have a great Hunt!!

We usually quarter our moose to make them easier to handle. I also use a chain saw as it is hard to do by hand. You can also leave the rib cage as there isn't much meat there unless you like hamburger you need to put the meat in game bags if you do that.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>The best way is to have someone who is strong & stupid hunting with you to pack it out. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

I'd like to think I'm fairly bright, but I'll definately agree that being 250 lbs. helps when I'm shouldering a 100+lb. pack.
