PA Black Bear Hunting
Does anyone know how Pennsylvania ranks in the country for black bear hunting? This season was good, 3 bears over 800 pounds were killed this season, and many over 600 lbs, including a 725 pounder taken by a 14 year old.

Over 800 lbs, thats a lot of Bear. I hope they were hunting uphill from the truck!! Forty some odd years ago the "New Worlds Record Balck Bear" was taken by a young lady (about 16) in Michigan or Northern Wisconsin, I don't remember which with I believe a 20 gauge shotgun. Just what is the record today and where is it from?

RE: PA Black Bear Hunting
I saw Gary Alt about two weeks ago on Pennsylvania Outdoors or some tv show like that. They were doin the whole thing on the black bear kill and the size of the blackbears. Gary Alt said that the largest black bear that was killed this hunting season was actually radiocollared. He also said that they have another bear currently radiocollared that will put the largest bear killed this year to shame. I believe he said the largest one collared in the state is approximately 22 yrs old and will outweigh the largest kill this year by 100lbs atleast. But of course he didn't tell us where this bear is located, not even the county. It looks like we had a real good harvest in PA this year though.
