Default New to Black Bear Hunting

This is my first year ever hunting Black bear, and the regulations here in Alberta says you can't harvest a black bear that is under 1 year of age, or any female with a 1 year old.
My question is how can you tell if the bear is 1 year or younger.
Any tips/advice besides would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I guess a guy has got to start somewhere!

Just like what is said before they are small, and under 1 year old they look tiny compared to a bear. Also if it is under 100lbs just let it go and you would be safe.
