No mention of cape buffalo, water buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, hippo, croc, etc.
Well, we have pretty much stuck to N. American game that we have hunted, otherwise I think the award would go to any member of the Big Five in Africa.

That is how I feel...

Nothing personal 8x8 if you like a canned hunt.

Now that is interesting & would be a hard hunt! Is to go hunting at the zoo. That would be a hard hunt to get out of there with your skin & without getting thrown in the slammer for YEARS! It would fall under the Super Stupid category but still a hard hunt. LOL I couldn't resist sorry guys.

Other factors besides terrain make this a tough question also. If you're talking about killing a trophy I vote for Roosevelt Elk on Public Land. Short seasons, jungle underbrush, their limited home range, usually uncooperative weather, etc. Yeah you see people with raghorns and young bulls but how often do you see a real trophy?

Well I have read everything above & I have hunted a lot of places PA included. Whitetail get my vote however try whitetail hunting were you can walk all day and cut 1 or 2 tracks (snow) all day. Maine and Adirondecks NY are just an example..The good news is usually if you get to see one its big. Don't quote me but there is something like only 1 Buck every 2-3 sqaure miles, add the thickest stuff you can find, dark forest (hemlocks, cedar and pine) and a few swamps and Bingo this is it.
Just when you think there is nothing to be found you come across a cedar as thick as a weight lifters thigh all torn up from what you would imagine is the next state record...Welcome to whitetail hunting in New England.

Here in my part of MT, a person can go out to a given hunting area, and have a shot at either elk or whitetails. In this country, hunting success on elk is under 20%, and over 50% for whitetails.

Elk hunting is tougher in the physical demands it places on hunters, because they tend to be in rougher terrain and 10-15 mile days are fairly typical on an elk hunt. Also, elk hunting is flat out more psychologically gruelling. (Sounds rather like your description of NE deer hunting.) Maintaining positive mental attitude is a real feat in the middle of a five day stretch where you've hunted your guts out and seen nothing at all.

That said, a whitetail is more of a cerebral challenge. Put one whitetail buck and one elk in an enclosure a mile square, and I will go in and kill the bull in a week. In that same time, I might never even see the buck.
