while i can't answer the polar vs. griz question, as far as most people i know are concerned regarding blacks, to all the guys in P.A., sorry, but if it ain't gutted when you weigh it in, it don't mean s@$%^!!! gut them, then weigh the bear and let us know what they weigh. that sounds just like southern deer weighing in over 200 lbs. sure they do, because it isn't dressed weight like the rest of the world counts! "shoulda seen the 400 lb deer shot last year". if you have a place to weigh them in, then you should be weighing them in after removeing everything! sorry, just gets me mad every time i read something like that. live weights don't mean anything.

According to the Boone and Crocket club 1999 11th edition. The Polar bear, taken by Shelby Lonoria of Matamoros, Mexico, continues to hold the world's record. In the spring of 1963 this bear was taken near Kotzebue, Alaska.

Here is the information on Black bears in the United States, according to the Boone and Crocket club 1999 11th edition. The largest Black bear taken or skull found was a score of 23 10/16 found in San Pete co., Utah.

Polar bears definatly

We have some great blackies in Utah!

But I just would like to ask if anyone can find the actual weights of the largest Polar and Grizzly?
I haven't been able to find a reliable source.
The problem with using the B&C method here is that its measurments are entirely based on the skull. You could have a freak bear with a huge head that only weighs 600lbs and is the world record. Do you see what I'm saying...

I have wondered about bear weight myself, I have seen some monster bear in Minnesota and Wisconsin, I have heard about 600-800 pound bear, have I ever seen one, nope!

One of the big problems is getting a huge bear out of the area it was killed, and then get it weighed, I have looked at books and magazines for weight and most articles written are just a guess at the weight. I would like to see actual weights posted and honest pictures of scale weight and photo of bear, now that would be sweet!
