Best raingear?
Who makes the best waterproof and breathable raingear for hunting? I'm going on a Spring bear hunt in a few months and I'm looking for a suit that will keep me dry without that clammy feeling. Also, I would prefer a thinner model or material, rather than a super thick military type rainsuit.

I am picking up a set of Helle Hanson rain gear. It isnt breathable though, as long as you dress properly to the actions you are doing be it stalking stand hunting, whatever, it works very well. It is a little noisy though where the saddle cloth isnt, then again if ya get into a serious rain storm or day after day of rain....ya gonna get wet in that saddle cloth...atleast thats my experience with it! It is however quiet and breatable! One big plus while bowhunting....

I love my saddle cloth for the quiet and comfort, the rear of my pants came apart after just one season though. Must mean too much road hunting I guess. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have used my 10x goretex gear for over 10 years and been caught in some very heavy downpours for long periods.I have never had any problem with water seeping through as some would have you believe happens with goretex. My goretex raingear is also much quieter and much more durable than helly hanson or similar gear and you can actually move around without getting all sweated up as with non breatheable raingear.I also find it easier to stay in the saddle when on horse back trips in the rain.

anyone try the MT50 pac raingear from Cabela's? I have heard great things about it but again, one of the local guides has gotten wet in it also..anyone else?
My gortex is pretty limited experience..but what I have both boots and my gortex parka both let moisture through in a bad way! Did a ceremony in Sitka and was soaked to the skivies!

I bought the Suede Dry-Plus from Cabela's...I tested it in Sept in Alaska..It worked well..Its very light and breathable. It also stuffs inside its own pocket..Good gear for the money...Order a size larger.

I have a Kool-Dry suit that I purchsed at Cabelas about 10 years ago and it hasn't failed me yet. There is nothing worse than being out in the rain all day in a suit that doesn't breath . You get all clammy and cold as hell.
