Fenced in hunting?
#1

Any of you folks been hunting for elk on fenced in ranches? Did it seems like fair chase to you? Sounds like South Africa. I have been there twice and hunted my fanny off for most of my game. I will admit we drove around the ranches, too. What say you? Thought I may harvest a cow with my daughter? Thanks...

Not even going to comment on the question the OP asked because it's been beaten to death on this and every other hunting website, but the response to Pete about his poor old dog was too much, LOL!

I don't consider situations where fences exist to keep the animals inside them as hunting in the same sense that I do a public-land hunt. Out of principle, I prefer not even thinking about paying cash for access, let alone cash to shoot a confined animal. But, I'm happy if I get skunked once in awhile, provided I enjoyed my time in the woods.
However, I'm not everyone else, and there are others who prefer a guarantee of some sort that they'll kill something, even to the point of paying for the opportunity and front-loading their odds of success. To each his own.
