Default Florida Boar Hunting

I have family in the Orlando area (I' m from PA) and was wondering if anyone has done any wild boar hunting in that area. From what I understand, if you can find some private land with pigs on it, you only have to get the landowner' s permission and it' s up to them as to size/bag limits, and no license is required since they' re not game animals.

I' d like to give this a shot the next time I' m visiting. Having never hunted in Florida before, what is the best way to go about finding the land and boars to make this happen?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi,
Yes, you are right, there is no season on private land, they are considered the livestock of the landowner although you still need a license. But you can also hunt them on public land, the season coincides with deer season. To find landowner you' d just have to do your homework. County courthouse records, some available online, will show the acreage each person owns. Here' s a couple links to check out:

Hope that helps, good luck!

If anyone else is interested in private land wild boar in Florida, I checked with the Florida Fish and Wildlife and here was their quote with regards to licensing, minimum ages, etc...

On private lands in Florida, hogs are livestock. No license or minimum anything applies to what a landowner, or their guest, do with their chickens, cows, or hogs (wild or domestic).
