Default what is the best way to condition a pair of leather GORTEX boots?

Got a pair of leather boots the are broken in and great shape but I havent done anything to the leather in a couple of years?

What should I do to get the ready for the season? saddle soap and snow seal? a silcone spray or just leave them alone?

THANKS

For smooth leather, Murphy' s Oil Soap does fine and at a fraction of the price of most saddle soaps. You can get it in the grocery store. All I ever use on my boots an' saddles. The snow seal is ok, but it don' t condition or preserve. Mix some Neat' s Foot Oil with the wax and rub in when the leather is warm. You can warm the dressing as well. If you don' t wanna mix yer own, Skidmores Leather Cream is a good wax and oil mixture, but pricey.

I hate to disagree, but I will anyway. Most manufactures of Goretex lined products specify that you NOT use Snow Seal or other like products on these boots. It clogs up the pores in the leather and does not allow the Goretex to work properly resulting in wet cold feet. Use a silicone base leather preservative or check with the manufacturer for their reccomended treatment.

Coastie is right. The product that you are looking for is made by Nikwax specifically for Gore-tex leather boots. Follow the link to see the product:

Silicone is fer wimmins titties. Only natural beeswax an' non-petroleum oils goes on my leather. Don' t know what thet gore tex stuff is sposed to do, but my feet is allays dry an' toastie, an' my last huntin' boots lasted 10 years. Yall git too high tech fer huntin' . Ain' t ' sposed to be a matter of how science can kill yer animal for ya. Course I ain' t got one of them fancy short mags in a plastic stock or a bionic ear or nuthin' like thet either.

Well Beaverjack, more power to you. The best I' ve ever been able to get from a pair of boots is about 4 or 5 years before I walked the soles off of them and the uppers were too beat up to sew a new pair of soles on. Of course if my boots set in the closet most of the time, they might last ten years too. As far as the silicone being for use on " wimmen" if you tried to put this stuff on them you had better be prepared to get a mouthful of knuckles, as opposed to anything more fun.
