Default Corrected Vision?

If you are not near sighted or wearing bifocals, you might want to pass on this one.

I' m betting a small portion of you out there may have this hassle I describe below and any suggestions based on your experience would be welcome.....

I am both near sighted and in need of reading glasses. However, using a contact lens method called " mono-vision" where they make one eye' s prescription slightly stronger for distance and one eye slightly stronger for close in and then the brain " picks and chooses" what it needs for a good image and thus eliminates the need for glasses OR reading glasses.

It doesn' t work for everyone though -- about 1 out of 4 individuals cannot tolerate it and for those who can it' s possible an eye can " assert" whether it " wants" to be the distant or the near eye (strange I know, but it is generally wonderful).

In my case, I' m right handed for shooting but left eye dominant for distance, which is no problem EXCEPT when sighting with iron sights and I close my left eye -- instant blurry target. I' m looking for solutions and I' m thinking of pursuing some of the ones below:

(1) Hunt with glasses only -- don' t have a pair of bi-focals and am not sure they' d be great for hunting where you have to be looking afar AND watching where you put your feet all at the same time. Yet, still need to be able to read maps, GPS, compass, etc.

(2) Get an alternative pair of contacts set to distant vision only and use reading glasses for maps, etc -- sounds like a hassle.

(3) Don' t hunt with iron sights, use scoped rifles only -- hmmm it' s a consideration, but I don' t like the limitation.

Any suggestions from those with experience on this one is much appreciated,

Never Go Undergunned,
EKM

Default RE: Corrected Vision?

I been wearing those progressive lens bifocals for about 5+ yrs now works ok for me. Went the 2 pair way& that didnt work for me... never had the reading ones with me or handy when needed& visa versa lol.

I to am right handed & shoot lefty , because of my eye...I can still see the iron sights ok(up close shooting/ pistols etc... not like i use too by far.... BUT im very glad they have scopes though for distances etc[:-]
