Remember that sentence. You can have all the horsepower in the world if you can't put the bullet where it belongs it's useless.

The Remington 300 Ultra Mag, is the minimum that should be used for elk. Savage sucks.

well I think that the .300RUM is to small but the 105 is to big.... I think something in the line of .458 lott might do it in a pinch......... I still don't know what I was thinkin when I shot my first 2 elk with a 25-35!! and hell yes I was close LOL!!!!!!

I absolutly love and cherish both of my 30-06s. one is the ol winchester model 70 and then the smoothest is my browning a-bolt. Good from coyotes to Moose! 50gr. excelerators leave the mussle at 4,200 fps. for varmits better then a 22-250 and 180 gr. core-loct are good for elk.

Lots of hunters kill elk with a good .270 but that new remington gets into my hands every time I look at rifles lately. lol good deal for 500 bucks but a box of rounds is twice what my 06 rounds are and it will kill em all the same.

i seen 2 moose this year get taken with a savage model 111 in 7mm rem mag,as for the recoil those recoil pads savage has been putting on thier rifle really do soak up alot of recoil.
