Bait?
#1

Ok, I plan on purchasing a bear tag again this year. Here in Washington it' s illegal to bait bear. I' ve been looking for a loophole. Its also illegal to bait deer and elk. Yet we can use scents. What have you guys found to work to draw in bears besides bait? Any information is appriciated, thanks!

A honey burn is considered baiting in most areas, since it is food of sorts. I would ask the local DNR if burns are considered bait before doing so!
I have used ansine oil(Licorice essence), which is liquid same as any store bought scents. It does work, but is deadly if done in a burn, again refer to the above statement before doing any burn.
If you can burn, then bacon grease, ansine(with real black licorice), honey or black berry burns are all good bear attractants.
If you plane to hunt spring and mating season, you can buy sow in heat scents. Never used them but they may work. Or try the smoking sticks as suggested.
