Default New to black bear hunting

I live on Vancouver Island,BC. the bear population is large and a 2 bear limit. So I have decided to try my luck at bear hunting. Do you handle the meat the same way as you would with deer or moose. What can you do with the meat, hamburger,
sausages. Not knowing anybody that hunts bear, it' s hard to get questions andsered

Trim all the fat off the meat, bears are fatty and for the best table fair you' ll want to remove all the fat and debone. Cuts or styles of meat are the same as any big game with bears. Bear must be cooked - well done, much like pork or chicken.

Spring Bear will have much less fat than Fall for sure. Meat is what you prefer, same as deer ect.. If during cooking you get to much grease, just drain it & then finish cooking. I think it is Delicious, just cook it well..

Like Skeet said treat it like pork or chicken that meaning to cook it well done because of trichonosis.
You like bear? Then you eat bear. I think theres better eaten meat other than an ole nasty bear, especially one thats getting fat on salmon. A mountain bear may be better, but a river bear taste yucckk.
