Wow I had no idea the 30-30 was so sickly .lol .
The powers that be way out west here tell us a 223 is fine for Elk . I never gave much thought to the 30-30 as an elk gun but my 32 rem I'd use in close cover to 100 no worries . 32 rem is 32 win rimless .
