RE: Colorado OC Elk Tags are Out
Yep, I picked up one also!CDOW started out with over 500 left over tags in my area and they were below 250 when I got mine in the afternoon of the first day. I figure they'll all be gone by Friday. Thems that snooze is thems that lose.
Now I've got one either sex tag (first draw), plus one cow tag (leftover "draw"). I plan to pop the first reasonable size legal elk I see, I assume a cow, then hold out a bit into the first day for a bull, then if no luck by late afternoon, pop another cow.. In our area, for reasons I can't explain, we see the bulls between 2 and4:00 PM. With several of us with two tags it sure does eliminate the "party hunting" trap. As long as we get a fair haul, we don't mind discarding unused tags.
Can't wait until October 11th.... I always enjoy being the first to shoot at them (with high power). They sure do wise up fast. We don't care for the deer.

OC bull tag will be valid in GMU 461.....NOT valid in 104. As to premission for private land, good luck. This year they put area restrictions on them....check 08 reg book.
