With adirect hit not always, reason being that my inlaws have buffalo and i watched my brother inlaw shoot a buffalo straight on between the eyes 3 times before penetrating using a 30-06 180gr bullet

Well that would be enoughevidence for me to be convinced not to take a head shot with my .308! I suppose it is better to take the larger target (heart, lungs) than risk a head shot anyways.
