yes you did!... 7mm mag is an awesome big game caliper.... my dad used his 7mm mag w/ nosler partitions.. and put a hole the size of a mini basketball!! it was huge!

7mm ultra mag is my primary big game rifle. I use 140 gr. noslers on whitetail (more than enough to get the job done) and 160's on elk and sheep (also plenty of power). In my opinion, you made an excellent choice for a great all-around big game rifle. congrats

I have the 7mm rem mag and it does great on big game including elk. Your ultra mag should be fine and those 160 partitions will have no problem taking an elk out to around 400yds or more. Your rifle will also take moose, maybe use a heavier bullet but I have a friend who just took a moose with 175gr partitions. Good luck.

I have taken elk ,moose and deer with the 140gr partitions with my 7mmstw's and they did a fine job in all cases.Since the 7mmstw and 7mm ultramag produce such similar velocities they should also work well in the ultra. If there is such as thing as a 7mm 165gr partition I have not heard of it.

If I didn't handload I would use the 160 grain Nosler Partitions, but I do so I would use the 175 gr. Nosler Partition. Good luck.

You're right Stubblejumper there is not a 165gr partition. Just a slip of the finger, should say 175gr.
