Default Anyone else archery antelope hunting in August?

I'm headed to the southern part of my state to do a DIY archery antelope hunt. Just wondering if anyone is getting ready for that. With this crazy heat I plan on spending most of my time on a water hole. I am going down for 10 days to scout a few days early and hunt.

I am thinking about it. I have a central wyo antelope tag and the season starts aug 15 for archery. but the temps have been in the high 90's this whole month. my worry is that its an hour drive on the hwy to the area i am hunting from my house let alone the drive in on the two track roads and i fear with the heat that i will spoil alot of meat.

so to make a longstory short if cools down a bit i will probaly give it a go until sept 1 which is the opener for archery elk.

I am pumped to get to it. I have made killing an antolope my goal for the year. I have my hole scouted out and know there are two or three really good goats hitting it. I love starting the archery season so early, being from iowa i am used to starting in october heck have the season is over out here by then. good luck to all.

I will probably go that weekend 18th here in nebraska. Or I might just wait until labor day weekend. Will probably be in the blind at a water hole then as well.

*Looks like I will be waiting until labor day as the season doesn't open until the 20th.

Count me in. I will be hunting in Idaho and I have a tag for Montana also.

Water is quickly going by the wayside and the holes are drying up. Watch the fire reports, I hear there is a big one burning in the western portion of the Owyhee's.

I can't wait to hear about the fist fights on Aug 5th when people can start putting up their blinds. It could get interesting.

Mac, don't stop with that one water hole, have a plan b,c,d, and f. Your hole may go dry by the season start and also you may find someone already squatting your hole, especially if it is pretty easy to get to. Good luck everyone.....
