Just to clarify I am talking about hunting year after year, if I was going on a once in a lifetime hunt of course I would want to go where success is the most likely.

Many people here consider 30 to 50% success rate quite good and it is for a do it yourself hunt in your home area. You have little money invested and if you do not score you can usually go out again that same season. It is very different for someone travelling great distances and hiring an outfitter to hunt. With the amount of money involved and the fact that this one trip will be all of your moose hunting for a year or more I would sooner pay a bit more to greatly increase your odds of being successful.I personally don't hunt moose every year as I put in to a draw for several years in order to hunt in a high success area with low hunting pressure in my home province.
