Well here are a few ideas I have about the subject.
I would cut down on the baiting, leave only enough for 1 bear to eat. That way when other bears (you hope to have multiple bears hitting your bait) come to feed they will have nothing to eat, figure another bear beat them to their bait, and will come a bit earlier the next time.
I would also sweeten up the bait a bit. I don't know what you are using for bear bait, but sweets work better for me. Try honey, or maple suryp. And if regulations allow, try a honey burner. Take a sterno can or propane torch and put some honey (about 2"
in a coffee can and heat it up. It will smoke quite a bit and put out allot of scent. You can also cook bacon the same way if you are using meat for bait.
I would not stop baiting, keep baiting just do not put as much.
Good luck and hope this helped a little.

As Bear Guy says try a honey burn, with honey, strawberry jelly, A friend on mine tried the strawberry burn and he had 6 bears at his stand at once. Also I find that you can use Anise oil. You can go to the local pharmacy and get it in little bottles. I have put it out and had bears come into it stand on there hind legs smell it and leave, not even to touch the bait. They love it and can smell it a long way off. Oh Ya use a stick or rubber gloves because you wont be able to get it off of you hands or clothing for awhile, put it on a small piece of cloth and hang it near the bait up about 6ft or so, or put it around the bait on stones the barrel ect. wrap the unused bottle in a sealed plastic bag. Good luck, I hunt New Brunswick every year and get a bear, I always use it, and always connected with it even if the bears are in the natural foods grass berries ect.

I always find hunting the challenge. I have tried to bait them in the fall but it doesn't really work. Here in new brunswick we have huge blueberry fields. What I do is go watch the fields or the same orchard that I deer hunt around.
