I have killed a few moose and several elk with the 140gr partition and a friend uses the 140gr x-bullet.Both work fine.I actually find that moose are not as tough as elk. They may not drop at the shot, but they never go far.

My 7mm loved remington 150 grain Swift Sciroccos, they held together great on elk. I usually like a heavier bullet but these always held together great and put them elk down hard.
My new 300 RUM also likes the 180gr Swift Sciroccos, and they have been devastating on mule deer and elk.

I've used my 7 Rem mag since 1964 (they came out in '62) and have taken quite a few moose and deer with it over the years. I've tried quite a few different bullets and loadsbut by far, formoose, the 175 gr Partition bullet has been the most effective. Iusuallycall or still hunt for moose and most of my animals have been taken at very close range in Northern Ontario.

buy something that you will have a lot of choice of bullet and grain ...i hunted moose with 308 savage since 1984 and from last year i bought a 7 mm rem mag 700...left hand thumb hole....a 308 is a very accurate gun ..but a 7 mm...wow!!!

I think he bought it and hunted long ago! How did you dig up such an old post? That said, I like 175 nosler partitions too. Partitions was invented when he shot a moose and the bullet blew up on entry
