i dont know why, but for some reason it almost feels like season to me, or at least really late preseason. usually dont start scouting until july, but im already finding myself going out with the scope and binos and looking. seems like theres so much to do in so little time. already shooting like seasons starts next week. anybody else getting this way?
i think this weekend im gonna go out and do a lot of shed hunting, which is just an excuse to scout a bit. a buddy of mine went shed hunting the other day and saw two bucks that are gonna be nice. he didnt find any sheds though, so i should have my run of those.
i just hope fishing holds my interest enough this summer so i dont go crazy with anticipation. its only gonna get worse, i just found out i got that guided elk/deer/bear hunt in alberta in september. wow
cant wait already

I know what you mean was scouting this evening for deer and with the weather we are having it actually feels like fall not spring, low 50's for a high! I did see a number of antlered deer including some well developed bucks. They are starting to shed and look scruffy but with the moisture it should be a banner year on the prairie's for all hunting enthusiasts..about 90 days till shes under way.
Darn fish aren't biting either as it is too cold, hopefully soon it will turn and she'll be on - "Poplar fuz is a flyin' the walleyes are cryin'!"

Same here fellas, I have been glassing and videoing quite a bit since I got my bear tag filled. I'd go crazy if I had to sit in a house. Good luck on your scouting and shed hunting fellas. Theres always lots of ground to be covered and you never know what you might find! Last week, I found an awesome (old but not too chewed) shed last week and a couple nice sets. The old one is a 10pt single whitetail side that scores 76 inches with a broken tine and 6 2/8 circumferance on its third measurment, a set of 6x7 elk sheds, not really big, just really clean and a nice set of 140 class 5x5 whitetails. Found the bones on public land and timber ground. I will post pics of them when I get back from Hells Canyon sturgeon fishing/shed hunting.
