Alright, i've got myself into a situation. I traded my only .22, a 10/22, a few months back and now i need a .22 rimfire in a bad way. I am on an extremely tight budget, seeing as how buying Christmas presents bled me dry! About 125 bucks is all i can spend since I'll have to buy a scope too. Should i just buy a new marlin model 60 for $100 right quick, maybe a marlin or savage bolt action, or should i just find a used 10/22? I guess i shoulda put this on my Christmas list, but a little late now. I've got a terrible case of cabin fever and an $8 brick of 500 .22 shells will go a lot farther than a $10 box of 40 .223 shells. Thanks for the help.

Higg, My advice would be to just wait until you can get the gun you really want. If you are like me and get something thats not just what you wanted then you will not be happy with it.

Strut, this is true, and i gave that one some thought myself. That's another reason i'm going pretty inexpensive now, b/c i'll almost surely upgrade later. But i can definetely see your point.

Higg...if you buy a gun like the Ruger 10/22 I think it would be a good buy and make you happy for a long time. I sold mine recently and kick myself often for that. The advice about waiting is good too, as everytime I have purchased quickly I have regretted it. But I still think a Ruger 10/22 or similar is a sound by although you will probably need to go used given your budget. For this advice and a buck...you can get a cup of coffee....lol.

30-30 they just ran the 10-22 this week here for $129.00 which they do about every three months .This is in a local chain store and they have a much better selection than the Walmart stores.
Higg I think I would look for a used 10-22 if I were you .The marlin just don't compare to the Ruger ,The one I had didn't want to feed all the time .
